I attended a forum this week in honor of International Women's Day featuring Diane von Furstenberg. She is truly an inspiration. Her life accomplishments are truly impressive and her entrepreneurial spirit is relentless. The host of the talk was The Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders. This event was their 14th Annual Public Forum to bring attention to eating disorders in young women. In recent years, the fashion industry has been the target of their message as a facilitator of the disorders. The Harris Center and Diane von Furstenberg encourages fashion designers to take interest in ensuring women are healthy and not encouraging young women to be unhealthy for a modeling job.
Lessons from Diane:
1. Do not be afraid
2. Dream big
3. Reinvent yourself when needed at any age
4. Be an independent and strong woman
5. Have confidence
6. Empower other women
